Happy new year.

This time of year is rapidly becoming a time of remembrances for me. Another new year without my brother and father. Now another new year without mom. Seems like the lord has a jones about collecting Chadwicks lately. heh heh. I'm not really sad anymore that they've passed. I've gotten over my sad feelings and moved on in life like i know they all would have wanted me to.

It's just strange the situation i find myself in. I live in alex's old house. Now filled with moms old furniture and fixtures with a new wife and hopefully family soon. I'm basically Alex MKII In his Futility's End and Expedition Fleet online life. I never thought i would have lasted as long as i did with the whole thing. I never liked writing much before and still don't think i'm all that good at it.

It was an eventful real life year. I got married decided to go back to school to finish one of my two degrees i started. Bought myself a few nice things i've always wanted. A new truck and a new car for the wife.

The online life was interesting to. I actually killed Admiral Cash in Futility's End. I restarted Expedition Fleet and recast the cash character with someone besides fonzie. Finished the civil war arc in FE. And so much more.

like Captain Kirk said.

"It was.......fun" :)

Next Great Step

The announcement. :D

Greetings to you fellow EF'ers! For a while now you've been teased and told that some changes had been planed for ol Expedition fleet. Well the wait is finally over to see what those changes are going to be! Effective with the opening of the infobase and the unveiling of the Expedition fleet web site you'll see that EF is going to embrace certain design elements and story plots dealing with the brand new Star Trek Movie coming out in May of next year. It's an exciting time in Star Trek Fandom and embracing the elements of the new movie puts EF in the right position to massively benefit from the scope and marketing of the film.

Now i know some aren't so sure about canon details in the movie. Let me assure you EF will be creating a hybridized EF canon from what we already have established and what we will start to establish in regards to the new film as we learn more info about it. This won't be a magical "Hey look! Everything in EF is just like the movie suddenly!" It's going to be a more organic slide into certain new things for EF. Firstly the new style uniform for example. After Venture Star comes back from her maiden voyage the first thing she's going to deal with is the quarter master issuing out the new style uniforms to wear. It'll be a nice simple progression of things from there. We'll deal with these new fangled phaser weapons being installed on ship's of the line. Eventually rolling out hand phasers for crews to "test" You'll still have the same bridge on your ship if your GM wants it to stay the old way. The individual ship insignia stay the same. You'll still be able to perform the same classic trek missions we all know and love. This is going to be the same EF you all signed up for when we first started. Just kicked up a few notches to appeal to a winder range of people.

A lot of people have been working very hard to spruce up our infobase and design a beautiful new website for us in EF. I hope you all join me in thanking them for all the hard work and dedication they put in for us. Firstly Dan taylor for making it all work so smoothly. Futility's end's own "THE" Doc for the wonderful new infobase and our Mr.SparrowHawk here for the fantastic new EF website that we should all see very soon. This is a great new step for EF and one that positions us for a solid footing from here to the future.

Yours
Albert Edward Chadwick

I think he works out pretty good for my version of the good captain. He has a nice look about him and just a hint of what's to come in the corner of his eye. :)

NuCash

I finally decided that with the changes coming down the pipe for Expedition Fleet that my version of Captain Bryan Agustus Cash deserved a face all his own. So after much searching and trying to choose i finally decided on a new face for our captain. Watch this space for the unveiling of the new cash after the first of the changes for EF are announced.

End of line

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry passed away in her home at 12:27am this morning after a battle with leukemia. She was 76 years old.

You loved her as the other of counselor Troi. You wished Mr.Spock would admit to having feeling for nurse chapel. You expect to hear her familiar voice when you query a federation computer. She was the voice of the enterprise and she will be missed.

Venture Star

As i sit here on vacation i stare out at that crystal clear ocean my mind wanders to thoughts of fantasy. I really love the opening monologue that alex wrote for Venture Star all that time ago.

"Space. . . The Pinnacle of man's Final Journey, The Greatest of unknowns. This is the journey of the Starship VENTURE STAR. Her five year mission to patrol and defend the Federation frontier, visit worlds not yet set foot on,by the feet of men, to brave the vastness of the last, great dark unknown."

It really is well put together and flows nice. I've had a million and one bursts of inspiration while i've been relaxing. I can't wait to come back refreshed and really give Venture Star quite the run.

Expedition Fleet

We've got some really fun things coming down the pipeline for EF. Middle December to early jan is looking to be pretty amazing. Sort of a mini reboot to the EF universe that should make us stand out and bring a lot of fun to the TOS realm. Keep watching the blog here for some lil tid bits I'll be sharing to tease the coming changes. ;)

Ideas

Been thinking about Starlight today. I have a few fun ideas for what kinda trouble we can get into when i come back from my vacation. Can you say cannibals? :D

Until then i leave you with this wonderful bit o fluff by the doc.

Spock!

Warms the heart to see old friends again. :)
I have high hopes for this movie. Canon biblethumpers can take a walk for all i care. This just screams great star trek to me. Action adventure with a great story all wrapped up nicely.

Another year

Holidays are coming up soon. Couple of days and it will be thanksgiving again here in the ol USA. Another year without alex.....and dad and now without mom to. I guess i shouldn't feel sad but it serves to remind me how small my family has gotten in the last couple of years. First dad passed. Then alex was taken from us. Then mom went to join her two men.

A lot of people tell me i have a good positive outlook on life. That i always try to see the best in every situation. I agree with that. I do tend to be mr happy more often then not. I've always thought that being positive and trying to make the best out of any situation is better then slowly killing yourself with sadness and misery. I have a great wife that i love dearly now. I have a job that pays me well. I'm going to back to school in january to finish one of the degrees i never completed. I'm in better health then the last five years of my life. I have some really good friends around my home town here and a whole lot more out there in the world that i met here online.

It's been a beautiful ride so far. I can't wait to see what's in store for me. :)

Bravo Fleet

You ask you PM you email so here is my explanation.

Bravo Fleet is not a fun place to be anymore. To many people concerned about so much shit that means absolutely nothing. The group is caught up with a million rules and regulations and red tape to do anything. I personally believe only a small handful of people on the BFA actually know read and follow the overly complicated list of rules they have. Some of you guys on the BFA are great if there's any hope for BF it rests with you and i wish you good luck.

I find the leadership lacking in every way imaginable. The BFCO and XO are the biggest joke i've ever seen. Leaders they are not. It's the number one reason i gave the FECO'ship back to Dan. I didn't want to have to deal with the two of them. I have zero faith in there ability to do anything but kill BF. I saw the end when Bob and Dan quit. I knew the future and i didn't want any part of it. I leave you BF to the madness. I hope in the future your still around and you have someone else with a direction purpose and a devotion to playing as your leader. But i'm done with it and not coming back.

You can find me in FE.

Sit down. Let me tell you about someone i knew.....

His name was Bryan Agustus Cash. Let me tell you a little bit how he came into existence. PART I

My brother joined a tabletop role play group around 1989 or so. It was losely based on fasa at the time. New to this sort of thing and with a love of the original star trek my brother rolled his first ever rpg character. Now with his deep love for the original series his captain archetype was at first very similar to James Tiberius Kirk. Hence the similar sounding name. During this time there was no Venture Star yet really. Alex had some drawing he did when he was younger and a few ideas....that grouping of Cash and Venture Star would come later.

The group played together and continued on for a few years and as it did Bryan Agustus Cash evolved. Becoming less "kirk" like and more into his own kind of captain. It was i think around early 1991 that we first signed online with good ol AOL. Alex was always at that first computer Exploring the Internet. It of course didn't take long for him to discover star trek on the net. Those exploration lead to him finding out about online role play in that same year. He discovered an online group called the galactic sim federation. They where very small and had only a couple of games. One was a dreadnought....called Intimidator. Now alex didn't much care for starship names like that for TOS ships. So he approached the leader of the group with an idea.

With a modified dreadnought design of his own and an even better name. Captain Bryan Agustus Cash finally came together with the one thing that would define him for over ten years. USS Venture Star.

Cash.......

I wanted to post. I just don't think i can yet.
Been crying since i posted it.

See you boys in girls in the brave new FE world in a few days.

Go Admiral go.

Almost

It's been quite a year.

I've written a lot.

I've cried a lot.

I've agonized a lot.

In the end i think I'm going to be satisfied with my accomplishments in writing for and in running Futility's End. Starlight has turned into something i've never expected. It's the most consistent highest posting well developed game currently in FE. I owe a lot of that to the players. Of course to Alex who created the damn thing. ;) I only hope that in the next year i can do the same with Expedition Fleet and the Venture Star.

A lot of people asked me why i quit as FECO. Short answer is because i wanted to torture Taylor a bit more. ;)
Longer answer is that i don't need to be FECO to still create and help FE become something amazing. It just feels right with Dan as FECO and me as his wingman. Like something that's just supposed to be.

Day four of no sleep.

No hallucinations yet. Surprisingly not very tired either. I've been sort of productive as i've slowly went out of my mind. Been catching up on some back reading i've meant to do for a long while. Polished off four books so far. Got a huge stack of comics to read next.

A cast of thousands

I play a lot of fake people in and around BF.

Some people ask em how i do it. Do i have a life? Well yes i do certainly have a life. It's not like it's an impossible task or anything. I just enjoy the multitudes that i play enough that sometimes when i see a game i realize i got someone else inside who wants to come out. The Hammer family started that way. First it was Jon. Then his little brother James. Now i can hear the dad somewhere inside there trying to get out.

Maybe i'm just crazy. :)

I wanna know how this one ends.

[Bridge]
[Venture Star]
[Near earth]

Cash felt his hands rip the arms of his chair tighter as earth came into view on the screen. Behind him scotty and kayvin were working on something to punch through the interference in subspace no doubt ordered by kirok. They fleet was advancing slowly in two minutes they would be in weapons range of S2 and the other stations and defenses of earth. The largest essemblage of EDF ships since the war was poised along with everything else.

"Aye i think that's got it lass!" Scotty said with excitement as the static filled supspace band used by civilians suddenly cleared. He walked up and patted the admiral on the shoulder. He was about to give the most important speech of his life..of possibly anyone's life.

"Your on sir." Scotty said and then went back to the engineering station with kayvin to keep the channel open.

Bryan exhaled the breath he had been holding and stood. He walked forward a few paces and then nodded to scotty. Venture Star was now broadcasting to the entire sol system.

"This is Admiral Bryan Cash. Lead authority of a multi planet force of ships. We are here on the authority of the CnC of Star Fleet the remaining members of the federation council the governments of vulcan Quonos Andor and earth, that can no longer stand silent witness as one of the greatest organizations in the history of time falls into darkness and murderous chaos. We are here on behalf of you and the millions of innocent civilians Starved.....no murdered! under orders from the current joke of an administration which hides nothing but a thinly veiled dictator. We come on behalf of those who have no one else to speak for them or are to scared to say or do anything, and on behalf of the Star Fleet ships and crews that have joined us to oppose the tyranny that has darkened Earth, ever since President Spock was murdered almost four years ago now. We are here to place Sam Kirok under arrest, to disband the EDF, and return the federation government to the hands of the people. We know that many in the government and star fleet have wanted to act, but have been intimidated or threatened with retaliation against your families, your friends.

You are not alone in this anymore we stand with you. We call upon you to rise up and do what's right! We will fight and do all we can to disabled them. The time to act is now! It has been said i am a traitor and want power for myself......This is not the voice of treason. We are your friends! Your family your one time neighbors! We have come back home to do what is right to stand up for what we believe in! We have come home to end the nightmare! Stand up and fight with us for this is the end of the hopelessness! This is the beginning of a new era! This is Futility's End!" Nodding for the transmission to be cut cash walked back to his chair and sat.

"Weapons hot. Lets do this." Tapping the go code into the arm of his chair the signal spread to the fleet. The real fight had begun.

Futility's End

I have such a love for the FE'verse that i can't even describe it. Every time i close my eyes and think about it everything seems to come alive with such a vivid clarity. I can see them all in my minds eye. Cash and Taylor,Davies and all the rest. It sometimes is scary at how well i can see and hear them all. when i read a Dan Taylor post. I can ehar the fleet admiral talking in my head.

When Irish posts to starlight i can hear her light irish brough come through clearly. It sometimes amazes me at how well the people of FE mesh together when posting. Almost like that hive mind is really going and we all know what the other one is going to do next.

Sometimes makes ya wish it wasn't in your head but in the theaters.

FE an epic six part movie series. ;)

Expedition Fleet

All i think Expedition Fleet needs right now is a more solid core of players telling great tales together. The base of those are starting to form up pretty good with a few recent additions to the team. Once the website is up and it's linked to the forums and infobase things will really start coming together even more.

I find myself not trying to directly copy the Futility's End template for quality and success but trying to build Expedition Fleets own take on it. I've got to lay down that first good solid plot for things and get the others aboard to make the universe cohesive. One group one world. Venture Star should be the model for all future EF sims so i guess i had better get things kicking over there first. Unfortunately it looks like a lot of my "golden" players are playing hooky. So possibly so excitment should be in order to engage them better.

The times they are a changing

Pretty soon ill be heading back to school.

Going to finish a degree i started way back when. Which means i'm going to have less time for this wonderful INTERNET stuff. Especially the day to day operations of Futility's End. Soooo that means the return of everyone's favorite FECO Dan Taylor to the halls of the BFA. It's not much of a change for FE at all. We both still weild absolute power over FE only the pain in the ass of sitting on the BFA rests with the other guy. ;) It actually will give me more time to devote to being EFCO and getting that group moving now that the new trek movie is almost upon us all.

So change a couple of letters around for me and....start saluting Dan again in a little bit.

Keep on trekkin.

Truck

I've been out most of the day working on my truck. He's a 2004 ford F-350 king ranch edition. Installed a new roll bar in the bed behind the box. All nice and black chrome. Took a lot longer then i thought to install.....but then again most things do when i have to do um.

It's the best truck i've ever owned in my 30 some odd years on this planet. A lot of people bash ford but after owning comparable chevys dodges and gmc's This ford big boy is by far the biggest and the toughest.

Generations

I was watching the first TNG trek movie tonight and as always a lot about it pissed me off. Point one being...
A damn 20 year old bird of prey taking out the flag ship of the federation! Anyone else think the Ent-D deserved a better ending then that! I mean yes they way they offed kirk was bad enough...but then they way they took out the Hero ship that we adventured with for seven years was just plain wrong.

I know trek isn't about the ship but the adventures with it. I just think the D deserved a better death if it was absolutely necessary to kill er off. Everything about the move just seemed so close to being good....
There was a great epic epic move in there somewhere but they just failed to deliver on so many levels.
A deal a day a life time away.......

Been sitting pondering all day.

Life and how short it can be. It really just hit me today that it's just me my other two brothers alex's son my wife and an aunt and an uncle back in jolly ol england. Moms family consists of a very very distant great great aunt....she was a single child and her mom and dad passed on when alex and i still wore diapers.

So i guess there is a rapidly dwindling supply of chadwicks in the world.

You do a lot of thinking when you have big scares health wise and i certainly did after mine. It makes you realize what's important in life and what isn't. Some people who might read this know i play a few "role playing games" online. While most would consider those not as important as other things. I guess i consider them important...and my duty to keep up with them. Especially the games Alex was in or created.

When i write for those characters he created and those games he played in....well it's like a little bit of him is still around. I know he has a son and everything. Who i love dearly. It's just that when i visit Futility's End and write the adventures of Captain Davies or Admiral Cash....well it's like Alex is back for a time and i don't feel so alone anymore.

Angry,Hurt and well armed.....

Been doing a bit of writing while Futility's End has been down. The following is a little piece of something i'm saving for when it comes back.

[Bridge]
[Venture Star]
[High Earth orbit]
[Sol system]

The orbit of sol was filled with all manner of ship and fighter. Renegade ships and starfleet ships engaged in a horrible dance for supremacy over earth. Venture Star bucked and rocked hard from blast after phaser blast directed at it. the dissension was done with a small flotilla of vulcan ships and now turned her attention to venture star. Irish had done her best to keep the ship always moving during the fight, even her impressive skills at the helm didn't seem to be enough. Wouldn't be enough when dissensions massive armaments came to bear.... Hands digging into the arm rests of his command chair Cash had ordered all the renegade fleet ships off of defense of Venture Star to the real objective. Now just moments from what was looking like a fiery death and then the coldness of space he hit the comm button to order an abandon ship.
